Default Seagates Suck

Seagate used to be good over a decade ago, but has had a sharp decline recently. I've had 2 portables go on me, and now I see it isn't just me.
Just doing my due diligence since I'm looking to buy a NAS soon.

I've had a WD drive running constantly for a few years without fail. The Seagate drive it replaced failed and haven't touched them since.

For NAS devices, my coworker has been using this: http://www.drobo.com/
Thinking of using the same. Nice, easy, reliable unit.

My buddy put me onto Synology, supposed to be well reviewed as a top choice.

Thinking about getting this one:

And they have mobile apps.

That's some good info. I'm glad that I switched all my main HDDs to SSD.

This QNAP came up on sale, so I finally bought a NAS:
QNAP TS-220 2-bay Personal Cloud NAS

Although my portable HD hooked up to my Asus RT-AC87R has been working well lately, I'll try it out and see if it adds any value for me.

I still was using a portable HDD connected to a router method. Are you using any programs/apps like Plex to run your cloud network?
