Default Next....Mitsubishi Evo V

Well from owning 3 BMW's..

- gave the blue e34 535 as to charity(tax receipt)
- working on selling the e34 525(rhd)
- keeping the x5

Now moving on and back...to the Japanese market. And it's another grey/silver! Love that color! Finally my first F/I vehicle...and AWD. I do enjoy the v8 AWD in the x5 but this will be different.

1998 Evo V GSR

Was won by Brian @ Bpro for his stock, but he decided to sell it to me as I bugged him for months looking for an Evo.

Auction grade is 4(ext) and 4(int). KMS are a little high with 129,130 but I got them to run a compression test and it looked alright.

I was planning on going with a 4, but with the nightmares I was reading on crank walk. Decided to spend a bit more now, rather than spend alot more later.

Car is still in Japan. Signed the papers and 3/4 paid off...once it hits Vancouver in 2-2.5 months. It will be sent by train to Calgary to get clutch work done and flywheel resurfaced(Jackson quoted me 1000..no thanks)
Then a coworker and I will be driving there in his Ralliart and enjoy a ride back together. Then get the brake pads replaced here in WPG from some people willing to work on it, off the TopTier forums

Pretty much stock except some gauges, turbo timer, exhaust and driver side Recaro seat.

The waiting part is the hardest part...

Oooh nice! Congrats!
Following on Toptier as well as I plan on bringing something in down the road. I really like the Evo 5 over the 6, like the front bumper more. Thinking of maybe a Forester ST/B or STi version 5: http://www.9tro.com/features/tuned-c...mpreza-wrx-gc8

wow, thanks for posting the Jackie Chan video, now I wanna go driving!

So do people still import JDM vehicles? Where can I look online if I'm bored?

B-Pro seems to be the more popular choice with very good feedback. I always visit his Facebook page to see what new vehicles he's brought in for customers.

I also like checking out Fraser Valley Imports on youtube with his first hand test drives of cars he picks up from shipping.

Congrats on the new purchase.

Just yesterday I was in the what if I had money mindset and decided to look and just like you Mirage I was looking at a Forester ST/B or STi version 5.

Prices are very manageable. What has the local authority been like when trying to register now? Are safety's harder?

GMC, from what I have read/seen, the STI's are going to be easier with no hassle to get safetied as there are the north American parts to swap in for the headlights. E-code/JIS for the remaining lights will now pass, but still need DRL and front marker lights I believe. I always wanted an R32/33, but without DOT labeled headlights, I don't want to do the old switcheroo everytime or worry about getting pulled over. Which makes the Subies and Evo's (Mitsu Mirage headlights) so tempting now.

Well for an update, I'm gonna send the car off to a guy in Calgary that I have met off FB and IG and currently owns 3 Evos. V, VI and an VIII. And has dealt with Brian from Bpro alot.

Also Brian hooked me up with a clutch.

He's willing to do more work than that of Japanoid and much cheaper

So this is my list for items for him to do for me;

- clutch change and install
- flywheel resurfacing
- throw out bearing
- rear brake bad install
- transmission oil change
- transfer case
- coolant changed
- engine oil/filter changed
- AYC clutch bath

Will def be peace of mind knowing that most maintenance will be up to date.

Car's eta via rail is the 22nd!
Got the papers and spare key in the mail 2 weeks ago.

So far I've picked up some items in preparation.
Some Evo 5 parts engine wise is compatible from 5-9
I think suspension is the same from 4-6

Amsoil 0w30 x6- got that cause it was given to me at a good price. That being so thin I will make sure to run the car at least 30 seconds or more before driving.

OEM Oil filters x3 - why 3? get them cheap from work. might as well stock up

OEM Air filters Evo 8/9 - was told by the Evo guys that they fit from 5-10

NGK - might as well do plugs as well

Evo 8/9 Akebono brake pads - need to replace the rears, was stated to me while the car was in Japan

Evo 6 front strut tower bar - car was written off, will get rears soon

Evo 6 Ralliart mud flaps - also from same car, some wear and tear but cheap

Evo 4 RSR lowering springs - owner of car from Brandon went coils, doing this for now but will go coils eventually

Will grab more things along the way to keep her up to maintenance.

After selling the Bimmer (this Friday going to Toronto), I will prob throw in a few G's on this car get it show ready.

I miss parts before the car...sigh. Had a whole basement of tires, wheels, a kit, suspension, etc. I would just sit there looking over my stuff like a hoarder with a big smile waiting for spring to come along every year so I can start installing things. Wife thought I was nuts.

Thanks guys. 5 days more! Sunday will be such a slow day waiting for Monday.

Yeah its been awhile now, actually longer than March. I had initially started the 'payments' back in Jan. Installments.

Once the initial maintenance is done and registered...will be dropping money on CF bits and coilovers. Will have funds as the E34 is being picked up tomorrow and it sold for over 6Gs.

Managed to keep the BBS RC090(style 5's) but they won't fit. They are 5 x 120 while the Evo is 5 x 114.3. If i got adapters the rim would poke out bad out the fender. So I'm gonna finish them up then throw those rims for sale..too bad wish it could have worked.

Some of the items I have in my cart...just waiting on the BMW payment.

Evo 5-6 OEM CF hood

Evo 4-6 Carbon Fibre Bonnet Dampers to go with the hood

Evo Ralliart CF plug cover

Evo 4-6 Carbon Fibre Sill Kick Plates

Evo 5/6 OEM Style Carbon Fibre Spoiler Blade

Those are the CF goodies planning on for this year. Next year I will start CF the interior.

HP mods...well anything engine bay I will hold off for now. Enjoy the feeling of stock...plus we don't have any Evo tuners in the city that I know of. I think I would have to go to Alberta for a tune.

Here are some pics today with a quick $2 wash

Driving it so far is awesome! Yeah the BMW was RHD but auto...so the manual transmission is fun!

Only place with rust I found so far is behind the spoiler on the right side. Some small dents and scratches. The interior door cloth is hanging on all doors. I've asked Evo V owners and majority of them just ripped them out.

First thing I'll prob do is get a new deck, as the one in it right now has only 1 station found. Its the french station. Miss the sound system I had in the BMW but for a car like this I will just go simple deck and good speakers.
