Default Who sells nice shoes?

Hey guys, new office job, need some new shoes!!

Not looking for uber-high end, but good style, comfort, affordable. What is there in Winnipeg, aside from the usual mall stuff?

B.

Depends on your budget and what you put more emphasis on, style/comfort.

With that being said for stylish work/comfort shoes Feet First at St.Vital or Polo Park.

If you're after more style at reasonable, then Brown Shoes inside the Bay Downtown, I don't think the Bay Polo Park carries men's anymore.

Town Shoes as well in Polo Park is a good bet for something stylish.

On the budget end:

Aldo: latest trends. Poor quality and comfort. Low budget.

Harry Rosen: Pricey. Brand names. Style, but you might sacrifice on comfort as well.

I won't mention boutiques as its hit or miss, unless you have alot of time.

My approach is to get some nice gel inserts and I can buy the cheapest shoes in a style I like.

I've bought the high end stuff from Feet First and they were no more comfortable than regular shoes with inserts, and yet lasted just as long as other poor quality shoe from Aldo.

This. I find I don't religiously take care of my shoes plus I use them in all types of weather so it's just not worth spending big bucks on something that won't last for ages.

I actually bought a Feet First brand from 2 years ago only about $100. Use them all year (winter I just switch into them when I'm at work). I get them cleaned and shined once a month at the shoe shine guy underneath the Fairmont.

I loved the look of them and the comfort. End of last winter I replaced the soles and lifts. Cost was about $50, but that was because the shoes were so comfy and had the right look, otherwise I would have just bought a new pair.

I'm gonna sound like a snob, but I don't buy shoes locally anymore. I've had much better experiences with professional type shoes bought out of town. I don't even look locally anymore. I don't own that many, but enough to cover the bases.

For locally though, I'd think the department stores (namely The Bay) would be your best bet.

The Bay actually has some really nice shoes and on sale most of the time. I picked up a comfortable pair of Rockports with the adidas torsion cushioning. Dressy enough, but at the same time casual enough for jeans, etc. The Soft Moc store I think its called in St.Vital has some Clarks for pretty good pricing as well. If you know your sizing in brands, then ebay is really good. I've bought my last 2 dress shoe pairs off ebay. Can't beat paying $60 brand new for what was selling locally for $160.

I'd go take a look at Winner's on Pembina, you can find a nice pair of Rockports there... but with everything at Winner's... timing is everything.

Recently found out that Aldo owns Feet First. I did an online order on a recent sale, and this is how I bought my last couple of pairs for $40ish/each.
Even the brandname ones like Geox, Clarks, Timberland, Hush Puppies, etc. Just wait for the clearance sales.
