Default Ignition problem?

Well got home from work at 7am yesterday.

Did the normal. Parked, locked the wheel, locked the door and set the alarm.
Showered and got ready to bring the girlfriend to work.

So by 8, I'm heading out.
Put the key in the ignition, try turning it...ok it's still locked. That's normal sometimes, I'll try wiggling the steering wheel too. Hmmm...is it rage tymez yet?

So I keep going at it, try turning the key around. Keep wiggling...still the key wont move at all. So the steering wheel is locked, I can't turn the key so I can move the car or turn the electronics on.
Rage tymez ON

Called my buddy up, he said it could be a tumbler issue. Anyone care to chime in? This sucks cause this is my daily driver too. And I'm stuck in my dad's parking spot and I can't even push it out.

I was thinking of just getting CAA to tow me to some place that can remove the lock pins for now or something.

Sounds like wear and tear on the old beater. You might have to jiggle both the wheel and key at the same time to get the right instant for it to unlock. Also, check the shifter is in P if its an automatic car.

Hard to say if it is a problem with the key, tumbler, or some mechanical interlock (park, wheel lock etc).

Is it possible the key is either worn down or just recently got a spare key cut?
CAA is usually really good about cutting you a new key. Maybe they can diagnose the problem for you.

i'm assuming it's running again since he already stored it for the winter and has the beater out.
